Model Washes are liquid, transparent colors specially designed for creating realistic weathering effects on armor, vehicles, planes, ships, figures, war game figures, and dioramas. When exposed to sun, wind, dust, rain, and snow, surfaces undergo a change in color, loss of intensity, dulling, and overall fading. These subtle changes are difficult to replicate for model painters, making washes the ideal solution for achieving lifelike weathering effects.

By mixing washes together, painters can create various shades and tones to enhance their models. Washes can be applied with an airbrush or brush, depending on the desired effect and the model being worked on. They are particularly effective for blending the edges of camouflage colors with a model's base colors, as well as for creating effects like oil and flaked rust, mud, earth, dust, moss, and more when mixed with pigments.

When mixed with acrylic colors, washes can help achieve a worn and weathered appearance on models. Model Wash is formulated with a modified acrylic resin, providing a surface tension similar to traditional solvent-based washes but with the added benefit of being water-based. The average drying time is approximately 20 minutes, with a recommended waiting period of 40 minutes between applying multiple layers of wash.
