Model Washes are liquid, transparent colors designed specifically for creating weathering effects on a variety of models, including armor, vehicles, planes, ships, figures, war game figures, and dioramas. When exposed to the elements such as sun, wind, dust, rain, and snow, surfaces experience a natural change in color, intensity, and overall fading. It can be challenging for model painters to accurately replicate these effects, making washes an ideal solution.

These washes can be easily mixed together to create different shades and effects. They can be applied using either an airbrush or a brush, depending on the desired outcome. Washes are particularly effective for blending camouflage colors with the base colors of a model, and they can even be mixed with pigments to achieve a range of effects such as oil and flaked rust, mud, earth, dust, moss, and more.

When mixed with acrylic colors, washes can enhance the appearance of heavy wear and weathering. Model Wash is formulated with a modified acrylic resin to provide a similar superficial tension to traditional solvent-based washes, but with the added benefit of being water-based. The average drying time is approximately 20 minutes, and it is recommended to wait around 40 minutes between applications if multiple layers of washes are being used.

Painting tools can be easily cleaned with water after use. Model Wash is available in bottles of 35 ml (1.18 fl.oz.) with flip tops, packaged in boxes of 6 units. These washes offer model painters a versatile and effective way to achieve realistic weathering effects on their models.
